Yawns: Yet Another Weblog/News Site

Introduction

Yawns is a content management system which allows you to manage the publication of content, and facilitate the creation of online communities.

All your content is dynamically retrieved from a database, and can be edited, updated, or removed with only minimal knowlege of HTML. Thanks to an intelligent layer of caching fetching your content from the database it is stored within is very fast.

Once installed users can create their own account, and you can assign administrative privileges to any number of them. The site administrators has a collection of adminastrative facilities at their disposal for performing maintainence and management of your site through their browser. (The administative facilities are described briefly in the administering Yawns section.)

About The Project

The Yawns software itself is implemented in the Perl programming language, which is a very popular language for writing CMS tools.

The code comes with a complete set of test cases which can be executed whenever you wish to ensure that the code, and your site, is functioning correctly. (These test cases are non-interactive so they may be scheduled to run automatically at regular intervals if you wish).

The original author of the software was Denny De La Haye. This site distributes an enhanced version of the code including many changes and updates by Steve Kemp - the same code which powers the Debian Administration website.
