Yawns: Yet Another Weblog/News Site

Once you've installed Yawns and created a site-admin user you will be ready to look after your site.

Upon login the site administrator gains several abilities which are a normal user does not possess:

  • The ability to edit/post/delete pending stories.
  • The ability to edit stories once they are live on the site
    • As can the article authors if the article is "recent".
    • The site admin(s) will each receive an email containing a context-diff of any article edits.
  • The ability to post/delete pending polls.
  • The ability to edit, remove, or ban any registered user.
  • The ablity to edit, or hide, any comment anywhere on the site.
  • The ability to add, edit, or remove any "static" page.

Administrators Menu

When logged in the administrator will have a number of extra links in the sidebar. The administrator menu currently looks like this:

Submissions

Administrivia

The initial menu options relate to the number of pending adverts, articles and poll submissions.

The number of pending adverts, articles, and polls are shown in red next to the links for easy reference.

Beneath the submission totals you can see a couple of links with the heading "Administrivia". These options allow the administrators to make new news entries, view recently joined users, and edit/update the static pages upon the site.
