The name of the next Debian Stable Release announced

It was recently announced that the next Debian stable release, the one after Lenny, will be called Squeeze.

This continues the theme of naming Debian stable releases after characters from the Disney/Pixar movie Toy Story.

The Squeeze Character isn't a terribly well known one, but I'm sure that will change now!

Excitement and curiosity got to me so I watched Toy Story again last week. (first time since whenever it was in the 90's).

I swear, my eyes were open, but I never saw the "squeeze" coming. ;)

OK, sorry about that...

"Barbie" sounds like a Suse or Mandriva release. "Stinky" would be an appropriate name for Windows.

Maybe it's an offhanded reference to the band squeeze, since so many debian users have been "tempted by the fruit of another..."

Just looking into the future... the movie certainly has many characters but what will happen with Debian releases name when they run out of Toy Story characters????

I am a long time Debian user and have known about the association with Pixar and Debian for some time. Recently I was thinking about this myself, there are only so many names in Toy Story. I propose that they continue to use Pixar character names from other films like Bugs Life (Dot, Flik, Hopper etc), Monsters Inc (Sully, Mike etc..), Finding Nemo (Nemo, Dory, Gill, Crush) and so on and so forth....

Debian and Pixar do have a history together, as we all know about Bruce Perens who worked at Pixar for some time. So to keep that tradition going I say the Debian leaders start using more than just Toy Story names and adopt from ALL Pixar films....
