As a solution I suggested a patch to init.d/acupsd available from Debian BTS Also to resolve ambiguity in USB ports assignments I've made a tiny script to identify APCs and create appropriate symlinks so .conf files have that symlinks as DEVICE. Unfortunately that host is down at the moment but if you want -- email me (debian AT onerussian.com) and I will provide you with the script :-)
