I end up compiling a fair number of packages from source for various reasons, mostly because I need to make small changes on a given site I have that has mail delivered to inbox files in the users' home directories for quota reasons.
Thus, what I would really like is a little more uniformity about how packages are built. Each individual package seems to be easy to build, but with five different packages you'll get five different methods, and you mostly have to search the net to find them. I want to see a concerted effort to make sure the README.Debians actually get you from source to .deb without having to resort to Google.
