Not sure, this is the right way to do it, but it keeps my self-built packages from downgrading: I add "+" to my packages. I have a package called "gftp-gtk" installed, which I recompiled with ssl support: $> apt-cache policy gftp-gtk gftp-gtk: Installed: 2.0.18-11+ssl1 Candidate: 2.0.18-11+ssl1 Version table: *** 2.0.18-11+ssl1 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.0.18-11 0 500 http://ftp.de.debian.org unstable/main Packages I want that package to stay in system as long as there is no new release in sid. It won't downgrade to 2.0.18-11, but it will upgrade to 2.0.18-12. Best regards, Marc
