Use the dev=ATAPI:0,0,0 (or similar device. To probe your system for the correct device use "cdrecord dev=ATAPI: -scanbus". I have a hundtred or so machines setup just like this. Not of them use the ide-scsi module. The only catch between 2.4.x and 2.6.x is that the cdrecord executable needs to be SUID for 2.4.x and not SUID for 2.6.x. Robert
