#5 Re: Latest Firefox for Debian ? Posted by ajt (204.193.xx.xx) on Tue 27 Feb 2007 at 14:29 Which version of Debian are you running? If you are on Stable (Sarge), then you are running the latest "stable" and "supported" Debian version. Debian doesn't upgrade versions of applications within a Debian stable version, they only apply security patches. If you are running Testing (Etch at the moment) or later, then you should install iceweasel or iceape the Debian versions of Firefox or Sea Monkey. Debian will automtically keep them uptodate with security fixes and new features as they are released. Updates in Testing will not arrive instantly, it takes a few days for fixes to arrive and depending on how close testing is to becoming stable, new versions may or may not arrive. Unstable (Sid) gets new security and versions fairly quickly, but it's not a stable platorm as it obviously gets new and potentially incompatible stuff all the time. As Steve suggests you can also install the official version of Firefox directly from Mozilla's web site but you will need to keep it upto date yourself. -- "It's Not Magic, It's Work" Adam
