Bind9 has a superior security record, a chroot system built into the it. Historically there was a performance advantage to BIND8 for heavily loaded sites, but I suspect this is long gone (with hyperthreading and such like, you'd have to do extra work to make BIND8 compete), and very few DNS servers are CPU bound.
