I could actually get a day time train almost point to point with no changes, but it's a 6-7 hour train ride, so I'd rather not loose two days of holiday to travelling - hence the original plan of going via sleeper train overnight. Going by car is cheaper than train and more useful for camping anyway, it's just it's fun to travel by train, plus it's environment and driver friendly. I'm a fundamentally a pro-train person, I like to travel by train, I go to work every day via train, I like to take the EuroStar to Paris even though it's cheaper to drive/ferry.
