Pragmatic arguments about belief are, too my mind, utter rubbish. Let me ask you, if it were demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt that becoming a Christian would add 10 years to your life, would any atheist/agnostic/non-believer throw aside his unbelief and suddenly take up faith? Unless his unbelief is based on the shakiest of foundations, I would think not. Likewise, someone who by their observation, experience, deduction, and intuition has come to the firm belief that their is a God and the Bible is his word is not going to dump all that because someone demonstrates that "religion" is harmful to society.

But the flaw in the question, to me, is how you define "harmful". If the aims of the religious run counter to the aims of the non-religious, is it the religious who is being "harmful"?
