Where's the "all of the above" option? (Or at least something similar to it...) I have used Xen, Vserver, VMware, QEMU, and KVM.
All of them seem to have advantages and disadvantages, and deciding between them for production servers seems almost impossible:
- VMware is by far the most mature, stable, and featureful, but its license turns off Free Software bigots like myself.
- Xen seems to strike more of a balance between performance and functionality
- Vserver has excellent performance and low overhead, but nowhere near the flexibility of VMware

I chose VServer as it is my preferred way (as very easy).

I voted Xen, as it's my preferred option, but to be fair, I have to state that I also have several (legacy) VMWare vm's running, and I often use Qemu for testing (and breaking) things...
One thing I haven't tested yet though is to install an OS in Qemu, running on a VMWare vm, running in a Xen guest, running on a Debian Xen host, running on a .....
