Forget productivity -- comfort. The best thing about a dual head setup is you're not stuck sitting in the same position for all your working hours.

Though I guess if you're using the Gimp or something, it'd be nice to be able to keep all the brush tools and things on one monitor, and the actual image you're working on on the other ... if you're into that sort of thing.

never tried multiple monitors. i've always been happy with using virtual desktops and switching with Alt+F[1-4].

I have a single 21" LCD which is shared between two machines via a small KVM.

This is a massive upgrade from my previous 14" LCD which I bought to replace the big and heavy 21" CRT when moving house. That thing was so heavy that my desk was in danger of collapse!

My primary screen is the 12.1" LCD on squeak, my laptop. it's tiny, lightweight, travels with me easily and has a decent 1024x768 resolution. Since most of the other machines i'm responsible for are running network-accessible operating systems, the only time i'm really forced to use a different monitor is when i'm tweaking the bios of a computer that refuses to run over a serial port.

I use to have a nice 17" Sony Trinitron (CRT), but there just wasn't the desk space for it. Now I have a nice Iiyama 17" ProLite LCD. The Sony looked nicer, but the Iiyama is more practical. With a digital hookup from my Nvidia graphics card the Iiyama is quite nice at 1280x1024.

I would prefer more resolution, but the price for LCDs go through the roof, whereas CRTs are realisticly priced. I don't have a larger CRT because of their size, so I'm stuck where I am.

At work I have a cheap 19" LCD. It's only 1280x1024 and it's an analogue hook-up, so the picture is quite soft, and it's not as nice as what I have at home.

"Screen" does makes sense - although perhaps "display" might have been more appropriate.

As always it is worth remembering that this site is run by volunteers and that a lot of the content is also submitted by volunteers. If you have a good suggestion for a poll, or article, then feel free to make it.

Laptop has 17' widescreen. at home I connect the VGA out to my NEC MultiSync P1250+ 23' CRT to run dualscreen setup (the ATI driver is super in doing this)

My work laptop is a 15' normal TFT. Never connect it to a CRT.

This week (I hope) I will receive my iBook 12', which wont be connected to CRT neither.

I'm now setting up a new machine that will be running single screen, my 73' TV.
MythTV will power the content on my screen ;)

I use the 15" LCD on my laptop and an external 19" CRT simultaneously at work. When at home just the laptop screen. I can even switch between the two options without editing X.

I also have a mail/web/mythtv server running to a 35 inch TV at home via svga and it also works great.
