You could have said that it was having "Serif" in my Firefox Proportional Fonts setting, that made the titles look sucky in beta. The whole Internet is now using a better selection of fonts ;)

Didn't you wonder why I was complaining about the twiddly bits on the f's?

I may be stupid, but I'm not mad, well not most of the time ;)

To be honest I didn't notice thatI too had the same setup - and just assumed that it was in the stylesheet!

Still no harm done.

Steve, I really think that the beta should be kept a beta for a while. The over all design doesn't look ready for public release (hehe as if nobody knows of the beta url ;) ). I will try to suggest some styles and mail it to you before going to bed tonight. I think we can do much better than what we have right now on the beta pages.

No problem.

(I guess I should say that part of the reason I want to upgrade is that the site's code has been upgraded in the CVS repository and I'm keen to get those improvements live.

The actual layout changes I don't mind postponing but it is an "all or nothing" upgrade :S

I'm curious why you think the design isn't up to par? I think it looks OK !

Really there isn't so much "design", just a basic three column layout like we currently have. If by design you mean you'd like something more heavyweight then I'm unlikely to be so keen...

Still I'd certainly appreciate constructive comments and I don't mind waiting a bit longer for contributions.

If I simply put it, the beta style is not upto par with the quality of the current design. It just looks too jagged to me, but that could be just me!

Jagged isn't a word I'd use - but I know that rounded corners would be a big improvement.

I've just not really good at creating images so I've not started that yet - plus I guess I'd have to change a lot of markup to integrate them.

For the PNG logo i'd suggest using the IE Transparent PNG fix, as the gray box looks ugly on IE.
