Weblog entry #5 for Utumno
The question though is: do desktop usage tutorials belong to Debian Administration site?

Six months ago I would have said no.
But today? I'd say yes.
There are a lot of beginners of all kinds coming here, and it seems clear from the comments that desktop-type articles are useful.
If there is any doubt we can just pretend we're administering Debian Desktops company-wide ;)

What I am looking for is the Debian way of doing things. I am interested in best practices using Debian tools and packages. In any area.
Sure I can understand people needing to use the source package and it is cool to read about system admins solving problems that way. But they should try to give their reason why they did not use the package. But in most cases the deb packages will do just fine. Often if I miss a functionality I can wait until it arrives in sid. I am just a hobby Sysadmin, and no company wide data is depending on my installations :)
