Linux Laptop

At long last Dell is now shipping a laptop pre installed with Linux (Ubuntu) in the UK. Compared like for like with the Windows version it appears to be GBP20 cheaper - the headline figure is larger but it's not like for like. Lenovo also announced Linux (SLED) pre-installed and support on ThinkPads.
These announcements are major even if the range is limited and the price differential is minimal, as they may stimulate better hardware support for Linux from the hardware vendors.
I may even buy a cheap Dell, I'd probably rip Ubuntu off it, I prefer Etch, plus would you trust Dell to install and configure your computer?
Is GBP380 ($740) worth it, just so I don't have borrow someone else's PC to give presentations at LUG/PM events? I don't really need a notebook for anything else as I have a perfectly good desktop.

Interesting. I've seen the DSL on USB, I've not investigated Puppy Linux though.
QEMU is good stuff, I use it to run old Windows only games on Linux.
