Saturday was the last LUG meeting of 2007.

There was a demonstration of the new Asus Eee PC-701 which proved very popular and a rather useful an interesting talk about streaming audio files around using a daap server and icecast. Finally there was my rather rushed talk on using CPAN to avoid having to write any actual code.

Today I installed mt-daapd (Firefly) and was able to allow remote access of my Ogg collection across the home LAN to Amarok clients without any problem. Very cool and useful, when I build a proper home server in the new year I'll be able to centralise my music collection on it, and allow my partner to easily listen to music without needing my desktop system to be on as is required at the moment.
