At the very last minute we found a new home to rent, and it's even in the village we currently live in. We move in on Saturday. I'll be off line for a while as the ADSL service takes a few days to re-provision.
Things are still stressful but less so, which is better.

I don't know what caused the stress in your situation but for my wife and me it has been time in place and our age. In the course of our 37 years of marriage, we have lived in four apartments and have purchased four homes. Each successive move has been more stressful and difficult. The most recent purchase/move was last month and I do hope it will be our last, in spite of the implications.

Moving scores just under 100 points on the traditional stress scale, along with divorce or death of spouse/parent. If you get 200 points in one year you are under undue stress. It's no fun and I don't think it's any better when you are young and I agree it get worse as you get older and accumulate more stuff.
Anyway tomorrow is "D-Day" and I'll be off-line for a week or so until the phone and ADSL services get reconnected and sorted out.
