Working From Home

British Gas are coming to the house today to service the boiler, so I'm working from home to let them in. In one respect it's nice to not to have to go into work or be disrupted by the noise and inconvenience of work. The down side is that everything thing now runs over the VPN, which is painfully slow... Mind you I'm using SAP Java stuff for some of the day so a slow VPN is the least of my worries...!

I hear you! I have the same issue, I just got about 200kbit upstream at home via ADSL and 3Mbit down, so I use a Terminalserver. Running applications through vpn is a waste of time.

But yes, working at home is nice, I get so much more stuff done, and my boss knows this!

In the end the day was productive as long as I wasn't relying on any Windows networking which is virtually unusable over Cisco VPN. SSH to the Linux boxes was slow but at least is functional.
