Weblog entry #63 for ajt
Yesterday was the last OPALS meeting of the year. It was quiet, but very technical and a lot was done. My county LUG had their last meeting of the year earlier this month. I gave a short talk on Web design, which I think was okay - given that it's an awkward topic.
In the new year my LUG is hoping to hold a joint meeting with our Surrey neighbours at Red Hat's UK headquarters. It could be fun to go back to see Red Hat and have a joint LUG meeting. The Birmingham.pm group went on tour this year, I wonder if our LUG is considering doing something similar, or being a destination for tourists...
I also wonder which other technology companies would be willing to open their offices up for a LUG or PM like meeting? I know the London.pm have had success with some companies. So come on Oracle, IBM, Sun, HP why not open up a bit? Heck I'd love the chance to have a LUG meeting at Microsoft's Reading HQ - they have already invited me (+ world and dog) to the Vista launch party in January...
