Yesterday I upgraded my father's Sarge box to Etch. As before it went mostly okay, the only problems I had were netkit-inetd which refused to uninstall, and kdessh problems as before.

I manually removed netkit-inetd piece by piece, then dpkg was happy, and I manually removed kdessh, before putting it back in. Overall he is happy with his upgraded box - he even prefers the changed colour schemes.
