Even the Tories want Open Source?

Even the usually utterly out of touch English Tory party is now talking open source[1]. I suppose when you are not in office you can say anything but even so it's a start.

That surprises me too; i wouldn't expect the Tories as my allies in any struggle.
I love the BBC stock "computer news" image, though. they've got:
- an ancient two-button mouse
- a cd-rom
- a 3.5" floppy
- an old keyboard
- perforated "computer paper"

Don't understand why you should be surprised.
Open Source sits well in a free and competitive market, and isn't that one of the things the tories are about?

That is what you would think, but the cynic in me also thinks that they like to line their and their friends pockets with our money. The Tories may favour "value for money" but they have a long track record of greed.
I should be fair, I think a lot of politicians in power have a tendency to think with their wallet and our money... not just Blue ones. Something about power corrupting....?
