I've enjoyed reading from Aldo Leopold's book, A Sand County Almanac, for months now. I could read through it fast, but--I've found it's actually more enjoyable to read it very slowly and savor every paragraph. I read it to unplug from the digital world of information overload and vicariously blend into a simpler time when man was in harmony with nature. I often wish I could hack at a slow pace and earn sufficient income in a relaxed and pensive setting, such as the farm described by the author. I am currently reading the chapter entitled, coincidently, November. Leopold has offered small insights into the nature of man which I find still true today and this one seemed to describe so well my current bias towards Debian and wasting weekends contributing to the embedded Debian project. I leave you with this quote:
"Our biases are indeed a sensitive index to our affections, our tastes, our loyalties, our generosities, and our manner of wasting weekends." -- Aldo Leopold,
A Sand County Almanac
