how to detect modem in sarge

i have an external modem( dfm 562e v.92 data/fax/voice modem).. i connected it to my pc.. but i can't detect it.. how can i detect modem?.. actualy i want to configure a hylafax server...plz help... i think this is a conexant modem.. and i downloaded and installed the driver.. but it shows no modems found..
