When I connect a vga from my laptop to either a monitor or a sony bravia HD readyt tv nothing happens. When I type: #lspci -vvx the reply is: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Rage Mobility M3 AGP 2x (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Latitude C600 Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Step I can't find the settings to identify the presance of another screen, can anyone help me? Thanks

Make sure you are using the ait driver (which will load r128 automatically). First, have you tried using xrandr? That's the first way to go. Second, I understand that there may be some problems with starting the external display, and Fn-F7 should be pressed to check. Finally, take a look at the following page to get a bunch of Xorg configuration settings for the card:

Best of luck,

Hi. I think you need to install http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=atitvout
This assumes you are using the "r128" xorg driver as the above poster kindly mentioned.
hope this helps

I have not been able to get xrandr but I have got x11-xserver-utils. Also i have atitvout. however after checking via #ls the driver i am using is intel_agp. I don't know how to change the driver to r128.
Thanks.
Thanks.
