Weblog entry #31 for lee
- libapache2-mod-security isn't available in feisty - does anyone know of a replacement .deb source?
- The CacheSize directive from apache2.0 isn't available in 2.2 and will prevent apache from starting.
- Some of the sub modules now need to be explicitly enabled, where they didn't need to in apache2.0 - for example "a2enmod proxy" used to enable the modules for proxy, proxy_http, cache, disk_cache - under apache2.2 you'll need to enable each of these yourself.

Don't use it. It will be removed from Debian shortly.
Why? It can't handle POST requests and despite fighting with libapreq2 for a long time I can't make it work.
*grumbles*

Ah, that's a shame.
I looks like maintaining the mod-security licence conflict is a deliberate business decision by the developers (and retailers of an "appliance" using it) to prevent it from being distributed in binary form by Debian, Ubuntu, etc.
I guess it won't be reappearing unless someone does an -installer package in the same way that djb-developed tools need to be distributed.
Given I only use it for filtering out POST-based comment spam, etc, I'm considering dropping it in order to allow for easy upgrades and maintainence.
