Favorite IM client

What is your favorite IM Client?
I use Kopete because of the flex with multiple accounts (jabber, msn, aol, etc) and it works well with kde.
But if you watch the cpu stats, it really spikes the usage.
Any better clients which are kde/debian friendly?

I think Kopete is a great client and it is rapidly evolving so it is worth the CPU cost.
If I *had* to use another client, I would use Psi. It is a great XMPP client. And if you need to chat to the proprietary networks, you can use Jabber protocol gateways.
Otherwise, Gaim is always popular though I haven't seen it change much since the lead dev went to Google.

on windows i would have to say miranda, thou i use gaim on win/lin just so its all similar :)

centericq was good at first. but now i find bitlbee very simple to use.

My private Jabber server runs under CoLinux(Debian) on W2Kpro - still in testing.
I am running Exodus, http://exodus.jabberstudio.org under W2Kpro and currently
run Xiffian, http://xiffian.sourceforge.net/ for the web client.
This stuff just works.

CenterICQ in a screen session runs 24/7 on my server, Kopete is my choice for KDE.

One thing I miss and may have overlooked, is how to make Kopete show the * and _ formating in the display.
Any one have that feature working?
Also, is there a particular plugin that makes the cpu usage worse?

I use GAIM for all my instant messaging needs. Currently, MSN, Yahoo, AIM and sometimes IRC.
