Weblog entry #1 for mcortese

Fastweb and Debian

At last, I have my Internet connection!

After "only" 6 months from subscription, Fastweb (second phone company in Italy) managed to activate my DSL.

To balance such delay, there is one point that I, as a Debian fan, found highly attractive: a Debian mirror inside Fastweb's subnet. This means full-bandwidth download of packages and instant upgrades.

Having been stuck to 640 kbit/s for years, I'm experiencing a new life!

Me was happy to till fastweb line start disconnecting , now I have sued fastweb...

Good luck and believe that if you'll have any problem the only thing they will tell you is: restart the modem . I've done it hundreds of times.

Bravo!

I'm a Fastweb subscriber since 2004 and I have to say that is great to have a Debian mirror inside your LAN (MAN in this case).

I've never had any problems and I went on upgrading my PC in a few seconds.

Many people discorages me because of their politics of natting addresses, but for a debian fan, staying with the favourite distro at the next door is fantastic.

Good luck.
