How to skip the proxy?

There is proxy (squid) in my school that apparently doesn't allow bittorent connections. I wonder how we can skip it and get a direct access to the internet. Thanks for advices.

Unless the network is set up improperly, the only way to the internet from the LAN should be through the proxy.
The only way to get outside, should be to plug in to the network before it reaches the proxy server.
