I am new at debian administration. I have a small working knowledge of debian and a little old school unix. I left that unix far behind in 96 when i started working with os/2(warp) exclusively. Now those days are gone. I worked up a debian box or two last year and am working on a project now to build some Desktop systems. One of which will need to function as a router. The users will have limited knowledge of how Debian or if Debian is working behind the scenes... or for that matter that Linux is the underlying technology of the desktop, unless I manage to let them know. I recently built a box with the new iso cd. everything worked reasonably well and I did manage to get installed and configured. I sat down to tune the dekstop and change the menus and the Debian logo was missing under the 'Applications' menu. So i began to google my issue. I am still googlin.. and must be missing sumpthin really 'V8'... Maybe I'll find it. It is a requirement from my perpective to stay 'debian'. The way that menu is organized is nice, simple and easily understood even with a warped history like mine ;-) Gnome 2.14 works well. I may not be.
