Compare Apcupsd and Network UPS Tools (NUT)

I have been using Apcupsd with the APC UPS: Smart-UPS Model Number: DLA1500RM2U. The monitoring was done from a old Mac G4 which I am retiring and I'd like to move the monitoring to a Mac Mini (PPC) running lenny.

Both Apcupsd and NUT are available on lenny.

I have one UPS that I monitor and my monitoring/control needs are modest.
My DSL model, FireWall, and Web/Email and Backup servers are all that are connected (yes I know this UPS is probably overkill).

Any suggestions about which is the easiest to setup and maintain for a simple situation? Other pro/con issues?

TIA.

In my experience apcupsd is the easier of the two to configure, and while NUT appeared to be more featureful when I first looked at UPS control/management software, I think apcupsd has more than reached parity.

Additionally, from what I can tell, apcupsd is the more active of the two projects.

I now have apcupsd running on all our servers, both *nix and MS, and I've never had any issues with it, save for a minor mutex problem on the win32 code that's now been fixed -- the mailing list is very responsive and full of good advice.

Cheers.

Thanks.

On the Mac system I was running I installed Apcupsd from the package provided and it worked fine. So I'm inclined to stick with it.

I've used apcupsd for years on various servers. Straightforward to configure for simple setups, it's also capable of handling strange configurations - like multiple systems on multiple UPSes. Handy when you've got a box on a non-communicative ups. Just set it up to talk to one that is on an APC, and have apcupsd shut it down when the power goes.

Thanks for the feedback.

I installed apcupsd.
Easy to configure and get the cgi scripts running!
