Weblog entry #2 for mwr

Making Debian packages from commercial software

I don't think I'd seen much on this before, but I desperately need to be able to do this for my users. One post on making Debian packages from commercial software is up, and there's a followup post on making a private, reasonably secure repository to store them in.

(In case you can't reach the site, there's a Google cache of the first post here, and hopefully the second post should be cached later today.)

Those links are timing out for me, which is a shame because it's something I'll want to do myself fairly soon.

You've got two private messages now, one for each post. The site's up for me from home, but there may be a routing problem elsewhere that affects you.

I can confirm that the whole domain is unreachable, at least from Germany.

$ host tntech.edu
Host tntech.edu not found: 2(SERVFAIL)

And a traceroute to the IP address 149.149.254.234, which I think is the address of your website, just dies somewhere in Bellsouths network.
Couldn't you post your guide here on debian-administration.org as an article? Meanwhile I can read the article using a webproxy, eg anonymouse, but that's not how it's supposed to be. :)

Posted now, though for what its worth I can see both articles on your site from my home correctly.

(Home ISP is Virgin broadband - previously Telewest.)

Oh, and can you send me the traceroute results, too? Maybe I can get it fixed from this end.
