openswan with 2.6.kernel using KLIPS
Posted by philcore on Sun 18 Sep 2005 at 19:34
Has anybody got a good doc on using openswan with KLIPS on a 2.6 kernel? I've got it working with NET_KEY, but I do really miss the ipsecX interfaces. I've tried the latest openswan (2.4.0) and 2.6.13 kernel, but no luck.

Try to apply this patch to kernel source code.
On OpenSWAN site: http://www.openswan.org/download/openswan-2.4.0.kernel-2.6-klips. patch.gz

But, from OpenSWAN developers:
"...though at this
point we do not recommend using KLIPS on 2.6.12 or higher. Testing has
confirmed 2.6.11 is fine for use of KLIPS."

Ack. I've just got to bite the bullet and start using raccoon. Everybody says it's so much more simple, I've just been using */swan for so long, and it seems very simple and straight forward in my eyes.

Thanks for the link. However, that HOWTO is using a 2.4 kernel, I was wondering about a 2.6 kernel.
