Weblog entry #5 for philcore

etch and phpldapadmin

Just made the switch to etch. Couple of things broke due to new configs. In sarge, there is postfix and postfix-tls. These have been merged in etch.

So anyway, my last problem is phpldapadmin. The config file is completely changed, and I can't for the life of me get it to work. Anybody got any pointers?

I updated my laptop to SID a few weeks ago. I also had no problems and did not saw anything break during update. But phpmyadmin is unuseable with php5 because php5-mcrypt is not available in SID.

But there is alot new, cool software. OpenOffice.org2, wesnoth and x.org were the reasons why I switched to SID. But I also like the new gdm.

GDM has changed somehow? Can you make some screenshots of it?

The design has't changed. Still the same (cool) themes available. But You can set the themed greeter to random mode. So every time gdm starts you have an other there. Only eye candy, but I like it :-)

The gdm configuration now also allows to set up the X server (so you can have more then one and set some options) and define the users that are allowed to login.

Well, phpldapadmin is fixed now. Saw an update come through testing the other day, and I guess that fixed it. It's what you get when you use testing/unstable.

What broke in postfix, and how did you fix it? I'm having a problem with smtpd crashing when I try to send a message via TLS.

As I write this, I'm trying to figure out this same problem. Same problem with TLS. It looks like a problem with openssl. So far, disabling TLS is the only answer I have.

OK. A new postfix package is available for etch. (postfix_2.3.8-2+b1) fixes the problem.

Gotta love testing!
