Google knows, that David Wheeler knows, how to type things in double quotes on the web. The problem usually arises when you paste from Word into HTML documents (or WYSIWYG HTML editors that don't cope).

I don't use anything that produces Microsoft Smart quotes routinely, but I'm still expected to remember the fix.
