Cows milk and BMI

Frequency of whole (cows) milk consumption is inversely related to BMI.
The research on this is quite clear, and the opposite of what I'd expected.
It is likely most of the effect is due to calcium; calcium supplements have been studied as part of dealing with adult obesity.
Alas, cheese clearly has too much fat, as cheese consumption shows the opposite correlation with BMI, despite being a rich source of calcium.
This isn't advice on what to eat, this is more of an "who'd have thought it" post.
