The apparently spurious mdadm rebuild kernel messages are due to /usr/share/mdadm/checkarray being run by /etc/cron.d/mdadm.

My heart sinks briefly every time I see such a message before I remember what day of the month it is; I can feel a bug report coming on, or is this fixed in SID?
