Decided to write a couple of short scripts
that make Debian truetype fonts available
as a zip file, so that I can install then
on any website that needs some custom
fonts without any fuss.

Are you sure? when I viewed the page in Iceweasel 3.0.9 it all looked like it was all done with the same font. I also tried Konqeror 4.2.2 and Opera 9.64, with the same result.

Iceweasel 3.0.9 is not Firefox 3.5!

I thought Opera had this, but it seems it is only in Opera 10, which is available in beta, but should release September 2009.

As regards Konqueror, summed up by the complaint I saw, "there is no roadmap, no news". 4.3 may address this, but I haven't seen anything, and wouldn't hold your breath.

Webkit implemented @font-face in 2007, so it should have worked through in those browsers by now.

I spotted the Firefox/Iceweasel version limitation after I posted, me--.

It does sound like it will be good once everyone has it, but that's not quite yet.

IE users upgrade painfully slow, most I see are still on IE6 but at least Opera and Firefox users tend to run the latest version most of the time. So if Firefox 3.5 and Opera 10 go to gold soon and Web-Kit browsers all upgrade to the latest version then it should be useful within the year then.
