Google refuses to server their own kind

Google refuses to serve search queries to Googlebots (based on User-Agent string). I think it is a bit harsh, they expect them to search the web all day for new and exciting content, and they can't even use Google.

Don't think so. If they are crawling the google.com website, they get in a nearly endless loop.

A little bit off topic: Blogger (basically google) won't serve images people post on their blogger blogs to non-blogspot.com referals! Paste the same link in the location bar and it will show the image. This leads to quite a bit of breakage in several planets (planetplanet).
