Faye (my partner) has just had her pregnancy confirmed.

All being well a baby should appear towards the end of May.

So far everything is fine.

I feel totally unprepared for fatherhood. Guess I have a few months grace to sort myself out, but where to start?

Congratulations. Or would "good luck" be more appropriate?

Huge Congratulations Simon!

I wouldn't worry too much -- plenty of my friends have been popping them out all over the place, and it seems that the best fathers are those that are on about the same level as their children ;-)

Enjoy your last cheap Christmas too, as they will be a soon fading memory...

It's too late for you now, but for anyone who's not had children yet, my advice is to just skip that part and adopt some young adults. That way you can have grandchildren without the bother of raising their parents. Grandchildren are a lot more fun.

Hmmm... to prepare for fatherhood, first you empty your wallet, abandon all of your hobbies, and forget about sex. It's sex that got you into this mess in the first place, so you're better off without it. Then you break the off switch on your alarm clock, and program it to go off at unpredictable intervals of two to four hours. Set out some milk to sour, and ask your mate to occasionally splash some of it on you just as you're leaving for work, especially when you're dressed nicely for an important meeting. That'll prepare your for the first year.

Seriously, now: Congratulations! Kids are great fun.

Congrats, Simon. I guess that would make one more user of Debian "Woody's left shoe" 8.2

It is all Sid, or Sid + Experimental around here at the moment, so maybe it'll still be Sid.....

That might make a third person who occaisonally curses Debian's misbehaving child.
