Reliable mail system with web tools
Posted by sopiaz57 on Wed 3 May 2006 at 04:34
Hi All, I have a perfect opportunity for a debian mail server, I am just trying to plan what tools to use.
I have 20 users and would like to use postfix for a MTA and courier imap for pop3 and imap. Does anyone know useful web front end's for these.
Also, anyone ever heard things, good or bad, about the complete courier package. It seems full featured!
Thanks

Web front ends for management? Try jamm.sf.net.

Jamm seems stagnent - try LDAP Account Manager (LAM) which is in Debian.

If by "stagnant" you mean "complete", then yes, it is.
The developer is still active, and he fixes bugs if you find them.

I've been running two mail server for over 8 months now with postfix and dovecot with a mysql backend to handle users and passwords.
The first one only handles 20 odd accounts, the second one handles something like 400 accounts.
As far as web tools are concerned, I use PostfixAdmin and MailWatch to create accounts, domains, etc and keep an eye on spam and virus detections.
It all works like a charm...
I've never used courrier though ... But I've never had any real bad feedback on it.
good luck
